New Project
I’ve been hoarding these fabrics for years. Like, since I bought them in the summer of 2005. That summer a good friend of mine from high school was getting married (in Australia) and I had every intention of making a quilt for her and her new husband as a gift.
Well, it never happened. But I still have the fabrics, and the diagram. So perhaps I should still make the quilt, eh?! After the last quilt top I pieced, this one should be pretty quick, too!
This plan is for a queen-sized quilt. I think I’ve got the balance of colours worked out, but it only calls for 8 fabrics, and I have 11 solids. I think I’ll leave the black out for sure…it’s just too much contrast, but I kinda like the other two cool greys. So I have to pick two of the warmer neutrals to remove from the pile before I get started.
Any thoughts?
I have one thought to contribute, though its not my own idea. I recently purchased Quilts Made Modern, a book by Weeks Ringle and Bill Kerr. They have a design in that book that has the illusion of transparency, brought about by placing some darker fabrics adjacent to lighter ones. That kind of design could work beautifully with the magnificent selection of fabrics you have collected.
I’ll have to look that up! Hopefully I’ll be able to find it at the local library. Thanks for the tip!
i would leave out the 2 yellower hues.. from the picture they kind of strike me as the odd ones out!
