I have long been a fan of the work of Gemma Redux, a jewellery company from New York started by Rachel Dooley a few years back. The pieces are such a fantastic blend of the rough and the precious, and Rachel herself is a woman after my own heart. She studied Mechanical Engineering and then Law before entering the fashion industry with her groundbreaking designs. (I’m working on degree number three myself, and have been known to study Physics, Art History, Classics, Organic Chemistry and 18th Century English Literature in the same semester.)
All this is to say that I was THRILLED to learn this morning that Gemma Redux has been chosen to be a part of the CFDA Fashion Incubator, beginning March 2010. It will be a fantastic opportunity to increase the exposure of the brand, meet with other up-and-comers, and receive some mentoring from industry hotshots such as DVF and Peter Som. Congratulations, Gemma Redux!
Also, here are some of my favourite pieces from the new spring line. I need to start saving my change for one of these stunners.
