Pyrex Reborn

January 25, 2010

A few weeks ago, while searching flickr for the pattern name of a recent vintage Pyrex purchase, I stumbled across the work of Carole Smith.  It was love at first sight.  Corning/Pyrex may have abandoned the classic, and much-sought-after, line of milk glass kitchenware in the 1980s, but it seems the shapes are still in production in the form of slip cast and collaged bowls, which she produces in her studio in Houston, Texas.  They are a playful reimagining of a shape I already love, so I can’t wait to get my own!

If you want to see more of Carole’s fabulous work, you can find her in a number of places:  her etsy shop, her website, and her blog.  Enjoy!

I'd love to hear from you, so please share your thoughts! I try to respond whenever I can, but I don't always have chance. But I read each and every one!
